Gary DeAngelo started his company with a revolutionary idea: to create sun-care products with premium quality at affordable prices.
In 1989, he launched the Ocean Potion® brand in Virginia Beach, Virginia, selling to beach stores and resort hotels. It wasn’t long before word spread like beach towels on a warm, sunny day. Soon, Ocean Potion was a must-have smash all the way to Myrtle Beach—and, soon, up and down the east coast.

In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, Ocean Potion pioneered protective sunscreens by enriching our formulas with sea botanicals and antioxidants that replenish skin depleted by a day in the sun. Today, Ocean Potion’s sun care products also feature broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Plus, we’re the only brand with a dry-feel formula fortified with Vitamin D3 to help enhance and protect your skin.
